SOLWAY SCHOOL

ANNUAL BREAK-UP CONCERT. At the anual break-up concert of the Solway School held in the School building there was a large crowd of parents and friends. A varied and entertaining programme was presented by the children, their’work showing skilled training by the head teacher (Miss Freeman) and her stall. After the concert the chairman (Mr C. C. McLauchlan) thanked the parents for their attendance, also the teachers and children for having provided such an excellent concert. Mr J. Robertson, M.P., also addressed the children and presented certificates to the following:—D. Stewart and E. Jacksen (tied for highest marks). J. Simpson, K. Shaker, R. Wilton and G. Wylie. Opportunity was taken to farewell the head teacher. Miss J. A. Freeman, who is retiring. On behalf of the parents. Mr McLauchlan asked Miss Freeman to accept a water crystal set, and on behalf of the children D. Stewart presented her with a crystal rose bowl. Miss Freeman suitably replied. After singing "For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow” and God Save the King, a very pleasant gathering was brought to a close.
