YOUNG FARMERS
STOCK JUDGING CONTEST. CHAMPIONSHIP TO WAIRARAPA. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN. December 18. A national stock-judging contest for members of Young Farmers’ Clubs was held in conjunction with the Royal Show at Invercargill, when 220 entries were attracted from 108 young farmers in both islands for the individual championships, and 1G teams competed for the teams championship. The results of the individual championships were:— Romney rams: A. Gardyne (Waikaka) 1, H. G. Stephens (Christchurch) 2. E. Withell (Hinds), 3. Southdown rams: E. Withell (Hinds) 1, M. Brooks (.Christchurch) 2. A. McKenzie (Hinds) 3. Dairy cattle: D. Hurford (Christchurch) 1, Cliff Riddell (Paengaroa) 2, W. Barron (Woodlands) 3. Beef cattle: G'. Blatchford (Wairarapa) 1. Ross Henderson (South Taieri) 2. W. R. Kofoed (South Taieri) 3. Clydesdales: G. Blatchford (Wairarapa) 1, F. Robertson (Drummond) 2, D. Hurford (Christchurch) 3. Baconer pigs: L. L. Christie (Warepa) 1, H. McKenzie (Wairarapa) 2, Ross Henderson (South Taieri) 3. Teams’ championship: Wairarapa District Committee, 471 points; Christchurch District Committee. 457; Hinds Young Farmers' Club, 44G: Manawatu District Committee, 338; Thornbury YFC 318: Wyndham Y.F.C.. 308: South' Taieri Y.F.C.. 304; Western Southland District Committee. No. 2 team, 296; Waikaka Y.F.C.. 288; Eastern Southland District Committee. 275: South Canterbury District Committee. 269; Maitland Y.F.C.. 247; Southland provincial team, 246; Drummond Y.F.C.. 230; Western Southland District Committee No. 1 team. 148: Woodlands Y.F.C.. 115.
