MAURICEVILLE

SCHOOL BREAK-UP (“Times-Age” Special.) The school children organised and staged a concert at the school to celebrate the break-up, under the directorship of Heather MacDonald. From the smallest child to the older pupils whe participated all did exceptionally well. At the conclusion the children presented each teacher with a bouquet, a gift which was greatly appreciated bj the teachers. The proficiency and swimming certificates were presented by the chairman's wife. Mrs J. Milner. Songs were sung by Heather MacDonald, Dawn Wilson, Audrey Meredith; recitations by Nancy Cheetham Bill Baine, John Meredith and lan Baine; card and conjuring tricks by Ada Nicholiason and Bill Baine. The following primer children contributed items: Melva and Shirley Smart. Daphne Wilkin. Patty and Dawn Kempton.i Althea Bray and Liam O’Neil. Piano solos, Alison Cameron. Heather MacDonald and Vida Nicholiason: mouth-organ solo. Doug. Scherf Soldiers’ Send Off. Arrangements are well in hand for the dance and social to be given on Thursday next at the Mauriceville Hall when a number of soldiers will be farewelled. A large committee is working to make the gathering a success.
