WEDDING
ROSS—WEBB. (“Times-Age" Special.) A very pretty wedding took place on Saturday evening at the Anglican Church, Martinborough, when Violet May, elder daughter of Mrs V. Webb was married to Douglas Stewart, eldest son of Mr and Mrs C. M. Ross, "Waihenga.” The Rev F. O. Ball performed the ceremony. The bride, who was escorted by her step-father, looked charming in a gown of cream embossed satin which was made with a tight-fitting bodice, with long sleeves and very full skirt. The train which fell from the waist was lined with shell pink, and was finished at the waist with a big velvet rose. Her tulle veil, which was embroidered with satin roses, was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of cream St Joseph lilies. The bridesmaids, Miss Ruby Lumley,, chief, Memry McKinley and Lulu Kaio, were dressed alike in frocks of maize embossed cloquet with red georgette sashes, red shoes and big tulle hats and their bouquets were red roses with trailers.
Patty Webb, who was the train bearer, wore cream satin with a Bertha tulle collar, bonnet, and muff, which were trimmed with red flowers. The best man ’was Mr Murdoch Hancox, and Mr Plummer was usher at the church. The church was decorated with silver bells and Christmas lilies. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by Susie Kaio. A reception was held in the Parish Hall which had been decorated with red gladiolas and cream lilies. About 80 guests were received by Mrs Webb who was assisted by Mrs Ross. Mrs Webb wore needlerun black lace over clover with black accessories, and she carried a bouquet of clover toning. Mrs Ross was attired in black lace and black accessories, and her bouquet was in autumn tonings. Among the guests were Mr Ben Roberts, M.P., Mrs Catherine Stewart, M.P., and family, Mr and Mrs P. Meehan and family, Mr and Mrs R Meehan, Mrs White. Mr Manklin, all of Palmerston North, and many relatives of the bridegroom from various parts of the North Island. When Mr and Mrs Ross left by car for their honeymoon, the bride was attired in clover sheer georgette with navy blue accessories, and she wore an American skunk fur and muff, which was a gift of the bridegroom. The bridegroom's gift to the bridesmaids were paua pendants and to (he train-bearer, a gold locket. Mr and Mrs Ross's future home will be in Martinborough.
