GAMES IN VARIOUS CENTRES. The following were the results of senior cricket games played on Saturday in the centres mentioned: Wellington: Wellington College Old Boys beat Wellington by 20 runs on the first innings at the Basin Reserve. The way to victory was paved by V. H. Du Chateau and P. Rough, who put on 135 for the second wicket. Rough reached 57. and Du Chateau went on to score 113, his third century of the season, which reduced his batting average from 181 to 158.33. Old Boys headed Wellington's total of 301 by 20 runs, Wellington scored 84 for five wickets in their second knock. Midland showed good team work in tumbling Kilbirnie from their top perch on the championship ladder, winning by 110 runs on the first innings. Kilbirnie never looked like reaching the score of 283 which had been set them by Midland. Good bowling by Hepburn and Randall kept the batsmen quiet, and the whole side was dismissed for 173. Following on, Kilbirnie had 152 runs for the loss of six wickets when stumps were drawn. An exciting finish on the Hutt Recreation Ground saw Hutt lead Institute's first innings' total of 271, by five runs. Hutt owed their victory to resolute batting by J. Wall, R. Buchan, and J. R. Capstick, who all passed the half-century As expected. Karori found University's big total of 471 too big for them, but they did creditably in reaching a total of 254. Eathorne for Old Boys against Old Collegians was the feature of the second day's play in the fifth round of the Canterbury Cricket Association's competitions. They completely collared the bowling and passed Old Collegians’ score before being separated. Hadlee batted for two hours and a half and Eathorne for three hours. This stand easily beats that against Riccarton of 174 by Hadlee and Menzies a few weeks ago. The defeat of Lancaster Park by East Christchurch gives Old Boys the lead in the competition by one point from Lancaster Park. East Christchurch being two points further away. Scores were: West Christchurch, 219 (Nee 85, Kerr 55, and 86 for five, beat St Albans, 151 and 180 for seven, declared (O’Brien 62. by 68 runs on the first innings East Christchurch, 231 and 159 for nine, beat Lancaster Park, 154 (Cromb 59). by 77 runs on the first innings. Old Boys. 335 for one, declared (Eathorne 149 not out. Hadlee 140). beat Old Collegians. 242 and 40 for two. by 93 runs on the first innings. Sydenham, 258 (Oliver 58). beat Riccarton, 210 and 29 for three, by 48 runs on the first innings.
