UMARU MEETING
CHIEF EVENT TO NELSON EDDY. ATTEMPT ON RECORD FAILS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TIMARU. December IG. The Timaru Trotting Clubs' summer meeting was held today in perfect weather before a large attendance. The track was in good order. The totalisator handled £18.249 10s. as against £19.194 when the meeting was held in the second week in January this year. After the second race, Lucky Jack, winner of the New Zealand Trotting Cup. made an attempt to lower the existing grass record of 2.11 for a mile, but he was timed officially at 2.6 1-5. There was a strong wind blowing when the attempt was made. The results were as follow: —
