SOUTH FEATHERSTON
SCHOOL BREAK-UP (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a very large attendance at the annual break-up ceremony in connection with the South Featherston School on Thursday night. The excellence of the programme presented by the children was evidence of the hard work and ability of the teachers. Mrs Hocquard and Miss Gregor. Mr P. A. Wilton introduced Father Christmas to the children. Each child received a present from the Christmas tree. Father Christmas also presented Mrs Hocquard, Mrs Mellish, Miss Gregor and Miss Bicknell with a small token in recognition of their excellent services rendered during the year. Each child received a bag of sweets and a small toy from the committee. Supper was supplied by the ladies' committee. The programme was as follows: — Grand march (seniors); “Duke of York” (juniors); song, “Forty Years On”; song, “Animals in thfe Zoo”; dance, “Reap the Flax”; dance, “See Our Little Hands”; piano duet. Gertie Burt and Shona Cross; poem (seniors), “March of Te Rauparaha”; song and tap dance, “Cissy,” Clive and Colin Thorne (accompanied by Miss M. Thorne); poem, “The Wallaby Feet”; song, "The Fairy Glade”; dance, "I See You”; dance, Pease Pods; item, “The Princess”; item, "The Cavaliers"; song, "The Sunlight Now is Streaming”; poems, "Will I Never” and "John Cook’s Mare”; songs, "The Little Sandman” and "Slumber Song.” . Personal. The friends of Mr T. Gilpin will regret to learn that he is at present an inmate of the Greytown Hospital.
