HOLIDAY EVENTS

As is usual after a holiday, the Masterton streets were thronged with people on Boxing night. At one time near the Club Hotel there must have been a crowd of nearly 200 people gathered, the rival attractions of a Maori squabble and a Salvation Army open-air meeting being the congregating mediums. Our Masterton Livery Stables have been unusually fortunite during these holidays. The proprietors say that almost for the first time on record, Christmas has passed without an accident of any kind, to either their vehicles, gear, or horses. This is encouraging. and says much for their customers’ care and orderly behaviour.
