POPULAR TEACHER

FAREWELL GATHERING. AT TE WHITI HALL. (‘‘Times-Age" Special.) District people turned up in full force at the Te Whiti Hall on Tuesday night to farewell Miss Admore, the popular teacher of Te Whiti School, who is leaving the district. The first part of the programme was taken up by items by the school children from Standards 2 to 6, who provided an excellent concert, their work shewing skilled training by their teacher, Miss Admore. Miss Audrey Regan made an exceilent job of announcing all the items on the programme. Mrs Gunderson was the pianiste for the various songs contributed by the children. Miss Joan O’Hara gave musical monologues and recitations, which were greatly appreciated by the audience. After partaking of supper provided by the ladies, Miss Regan was requested by the parents and pupils to make a presentation of a gold wristlet watch to Miss Admore. Miss Regan spoke very highly of their teacher and expressed the regret of all that she was leaving the district. Miss Admore acknowledged the gift and thanked one and all for their good wishes. Miss Admore was also the recipient of a beautiful bouquet of roses and sweet peas by Shirley Crew, everyone joining in and singing “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” Mr F. G. Rogers spoke on behalf of the parents, wishing Miss Admore every success and hoping to welcome her back to Te Whiti at some future occasion. Dancing was indulged in until a late hour to excellent music supplied by Mr West. The duties of M.C. were capably c'arried out by Mr L. Pike. A most enjoyable evening concluded by all joining hands and singing "Auld Lang Syne.”
