TRUST LANDS TRUST

BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. APPLICATIONS FOR UNIVERSITY GRANTS. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust was held last night, there being present: Messrs H. P. Hugo (chairman), J. Macfarlane Laing, A. O. Jones, C. E. Grey, J. H. Handyside, E. G. Eton. R. Krahagen, R. Page and H. H. Daniell. A University Entrance grant of £lO was made to an applicant. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £1256. Accounts totalling £26 17s 5d were passed. The following grants were recommended for payment: Masterton Plunket Society, £25: Crippled Children Society, £25; Masterton Y.M.C.A., £l5; St. John Ambulance, Masterton. £10; Central School Museum, £7 10s. It was decided, in view of the merit of the second essay in a competition held at Wairarapa College, the subject being the history of the Trust, to make a special grant of £1 Is. The Trustees agreed that the Principal of Wairarapa College should be asked to supply the Trust each year with a list of pupils who might be entitled to receive University Entrance grants. It was pointed out that at present no information in that direction was available and some students might not be aware that a grant was available while in some cases parents were diffident about applying.
