l FEATHERSTON GROUP I I RESULTS OF JUDGING. (“Times-Age" Special.) ! The Featherston District Group ot * the Boys' and Girls' Agricultural Clubs held a successful field day at Kahutara on Wednesday when the pupils of the Kahutara, South Featherston, and the Featherston schools met to have their calves and lambs judged. There was a large attendance of parents and visitors. Splendid types of calves and lambs were entered for the various competitions. and the animals showed that they had been carefully attended. The judge of the calves was Mr M. Parker. Dalefield, while Mr A. Robbins. Pigeon Bush, judged the lambs. The following were the awards: — Calves. Rearing and handling (29 entries):— lan Siemonek (Kahutara) 1; Phyllis Snell (South Featherston) 2; Shirley Lumsden (South Featherston) 3: Trevor Snell (South Featherston) 4. Dairy type (29 entries):—lan Siemonek (Kahutara) 1; Phyllis Snell (South Featherston) 2; Tom Ness (Kahutara) 3; Shirley Lumsden (South ! Featherston) 4. Ayrshire class, calf by registered Ayrshire bull:—Shirley Lumsden (South Featherston) 1; Betty Fuge (Featherston) 2; Doreen Cole (Featherston) 3. Grade Jersey class:—lan Siemonek (Kahutara) 1: Phyllis Snell (South Featherston) 2; Trevor Snell (South Featherston) 3. Records: —Evelyn Snell (South Featherston) 1; Trevor Buck (Featherston) 2; Shirley Lumsden (South Featherston) 3. Lambs. Short wool: —Patricia Rendle (South Featherston) 1; Rex Leighton (South Featherston) 2: Gilbert Cole (Featherston) 3. Long wool: —Ray Burt (South Featherston) 1; Desmond Willis (South Featherston) 2. Brough Cup: Kahutara School. 13 points; South Featherston. 12 points: Featherston. 5 points. The judges congratulated the children on their display and spoke a few suitable words of encouragement to them. Other speakers were Mr H. C. Playle. who welcomed the visitors to Kahutara, Mr Ben Roberts, M.P.. Mr H. W. Hesse, Supervisor of Agriculture, and Mr G. Cole (president of the group). The prizes were presented to the successful competitors by Miss H Card. All present were entertained tc afternoon tea.
