CRICKET CONTESTS RAIN STOPS PLAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) Rain on Saturday caused the abandonment of the senior cricket matches. Against Eketahuna at Pahiatuti. the home team had scored 69 for 8 wickets (Hicker 24. J. Sandman 13: F. Robinson. 3 for 19. P. Payne, 2 for 14. E. Francois. 2 for 20. J. Tredray, 1 for 19). when heavy rain terminated the game. The Mangamaire—Pahiatua High School game was abandoned as the result of the rain. The Pahiatua File Brigade team had a bye. PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORTS TO BE HELD AT EKETAHUNA. . A decision to hold the Bush Primary School Sports at Eketahuna on the earliest available Saturday in March. 1940, was made at the annual meeting of the Sports Association held in the Hamua Hall. Mr R. Mabey, of Hamua. presided over a good attendance of delegates from the Mangatainoka, Alfredton, Scarborough. Konini. Ballance. Kakariki. Putara. Newman, Hamua. Kaiparoro and Hukanui schools.

The election of officers resulted as follows: President. Mr R. Mabey; vicepresident. Mr A. P. Jensen; secretary. Mr R. G. McKenzie.

Appreciation of the services of Mr E. A. Harrington, the retiring vicepresident. an ex-president and a member of the executive since the inception of the Association, was placed on record.

Mr Mabey announced the gift of the Beryl Mabey Cup. This was gratefully accepted by-the Association. It was decided to award this cup to the winner of the group composed of the five smallest schools, taken on the roll number at the date of entry. It was also decided to allocate equal amounts to each school this year. After the meeting the delegates were entertained to supper by Mesdames R. B. Humphrey and R. Humphrey and R. Mabey, assisted by Miss Mabey and Mr M. Mabey.
