AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. At the annual meeting of the Eketahuna Amateur Athletic Club the following officials were elected:—Patron. Mr J. Robertson. M.P.; president, Mr S. Daniel; vice-presidents. Messrs L. Russell. A. L. Wilson and F. Webb; committee, Messrs S. O'Regan, B. Rogers, R. Payne, C. Hausmann. A. Boustead. H. Steer, M. Wilson, D. Anderson; joint secretaries, Messrs W. J. Henderson and C. Hausmann; treasurer, Mr W. J. Henderson; delegate to Centre, Mr C. Hausmann. In the president's report eulogistic reference was made to the success of one of the .club members, W. Russell, who last season annexed two provincial jumping championships. IL was decided that a sports meeting should be held on February 3 to coincide with the Eketahuna district centennial celebrations. It is confidently hoped that with such a fine athlete as Claude Hausmann for their coach that the lads in training will this year give a good account of themselves. Epidemic of Chickenpox. An epidemic of chickenpox is seriously affecting the school attendance, some sixty children being absent. It has been decided to postpone the annual school fancy dress ball. Opening of Catholic Presbytery. The new Catholic Presbytery, now almost completed, is to be officially opened and blessed on Sunday. December 10. at 2.30 p.m. Monsignor McManus of Palmerston North is to perform the ceremony. Children’s Playground. The children's playground is now completed and during the past week the children have been giving it its christening. Swimming Baths. The swimming baths were opened for the new season on Monday. The warm sunshine prevailing during the week tempted many swimmers to take the first plunge. Calf Club Championships. The judging of calves in the Eketahuna and Pahiatua groups for the Tararua championships will take place on the Eketahuna Domain on Thursday. December 7. Prior to the Tararua championship judging the Eketahuna Group championships will be decided. Mi' F. Bryant. Ruawhata. is to officiate as judge. Personal. Mr R. Payne. Wellington, has been visiting his parents during the weekend. Mrs E. A. O'Brien. Palmerston North, who with her two small sons has been the guest of her mother. Mrs S. J. O’Regan. High Streel. has returned home. Mr W. Simpson. Mayor of Eketahuna. is visiting Auckland.
