HASTWELLS

INSTITUTE MEETING COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Hastwells Women’s Institute there was not a large number of members present. The president, Mrs Madsen, presided. Mrs Seymour, the delegate to the Council meeting at Hamua, gave a very interesting account of the meeting, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The winners of the competitions were: Cocoanut ice, seniors, Miss A. Dick 1, Mrs J. Dick 2 and Mrs Madsen 3. Juniors' competition for ginger nuts, Miss K. Larsen 1, Miss O. Halbery 2, and Miss I. Madsen 3. Best flower for the month. Mr McKay 1, Mrs Broadbent 2, and Mrs Burt 3. A game conducted by Miss K. Larsen was won by Mrs J. Dick with Miss O ; Halberg 2. Mrs O. Halberg and Mrs Morris contributed songs. Many beautifully dressed dolls and soft toys, made by members were on view and these are to be sent to an orphanage in Masterton as Christmas gifts for little children there. Mrs Morris and Mrs Dick served a dainty afternoon tea after which the singing of the National Anthem brought the gathering to a close.
