MASTERTON COLLIE CLUB

REVIEW OF PAST YEAR. MORE MEMBERS REQUIRED. The annual report of the Masterton Collie Club which is signed by the president, Mr J. M. James, states:— The finance of the club remains quite satisfactory, the profit of the year amounting to £l3 3s 4d. Our membership, although on a par with last year, is still very low, and every endeavour should be made to increase , _ the same. At the trials our total entries this year amount to 107, against 106 last year. The number of competitors was 41. four of whom were competing for the first time at any trial. Owing to the very dry autumn, it was found difficult to obtain sheep for the trials, Mr Bennett being unable to supply them as he usually does. However,, Mr J. M. and Mr D. James supplied sheep which proved entirely satisfactory, and our grateful thanks are extended to them for same. Our thanks are also extended to Mr R. J. McDonald, who so ably carried out the duties of judge, to the very efficient working committee and to the numerous outside competitors whose presence helped materially to the success of the meeting. Our dance this year, although highly successful, was not patronised as well as usual, which could probably be accounted for to some extent by the fact that it was held later than usual. The nett profit amounted to £4 16s sd. Our special thanks are due to the Ladies’ Committee for their untiring efforts, both at the trials and in connection with the dance. We also wish to express our thanks to Mr Geo Shaw for the use of his grounds; to Mr John McKay for the use of holding paddocks; to the Press; to donors of special prizes; and to all who assisted in any way in making the trials the success they undoubtedly were. ft is with regret we record the retirement of Mr S. Campbell from the position he has filled for the Club for a period of nine years. We extend to Mr Campbell our sincere thanks for his past services. The annual meeting of the club will be held on Friday night.
