There was a large attendance of members at the quarterly meeting of Totara Lodge of Druids held last even's ing, over which A.D. Bro H. Torrey presided. A letter was received stating that the Grand Lodge officers would officially visit Fernleaf Lodge, Greytown, on Wednesday, December 6. Twenty members of Totara Lodge have signified their intention of being present. The recruit contest between the past and present officers of the lodge was held which created much interest and resulted in the present officers winning by nine points. The election of officers resulted as follows: —A.D. Bro R. Murell; V.A.D.. Bro W. Fryer; secretary, Bro E. McKenzie; treasurer. Bro R. Smith; 0.G.. Sister R. Brazendale; A.A.B.’s, Bro B. Nielsen and W. Allen; V.A.B.’s, Bros M. T. Broube and H. Bassetts, musician, Bro C. C. Kitchen; Master of Ceremonies, Bro H. Matson; delegates to Friendly Societies Council. Bros R. Smith and H. Matson. The installation of officers elect will take place next lodge night, December 4, when all lodges in No. 1 district will be invited to attend the ceremony. Sick pay and other accounts amounting to £4l 19s were passed for payment. Winter Fodder. Farmers in many parts of the district are busy making hay. The crops so far are not very prolific. Grass owing to the dry weather has run to seed before it has had time to grow to any great height. Farmers realise that if a cut is made now there may be a chance of a second growth to augment what at the present looks like a poor harvest in the Wairarapa.
