FIRE IN TAITA GORGE
GARAGE AND CAR DESTROYED. . A SPECTACULAR BLAZE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Wairarapa motorists returning from Lower Hutt last evening were amazed when rounding a bend in the road in the Taita Gorge to find a motor garage on the hillside alight. It contained what appeared to be a large Plymouth car. The fire appeared to have broken out in the' front portion of the car, and the flames rapidly spread and the garage was soon a mass of flames. The motorists were somewhat concerned as no one seemed to be about, and the doors of the garage were open. They waited for some time and watched the fire completely burn the garage and the car also. Two or three other motorists also pulled up. It was absolutely impossible to salvage anything. It was a most spectacular blaze.
