CENTRAL SCHOOL

REMODELLING TO BE PUT IN HAND. WORK COSTING ABOUT £4OOO. ’ Tenders are to be called next week for the remodelling of Masterton Central School. This work will cost something in the vicinity of £4OOO. For some considerable time past, representations have been made to the authorities for the renovation of the school buildings, portion of which has been in use for the past sixty years. The work to be put in hand includes the renewal of most of the flooring, lowering the windows, removal of fireplaces, installation of a central heating system and the conversion of the infant class rooms into open-air rooms. It is hoped to have the work carried out during the Christmas vacation period, as it is not possible to find temporary accommodation for the pupils of the school.
