FATALLY SHOT
MAYOR OF AMERICAN TOWN AGGRIEVED PATROLMAN’S DEED. SECOND VICTIM' SERIOUSLY WOUNDED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) NEW YORK. November 15 As an aftermath to a political dispute Patrolmen Alvin Dooley fatally shot the Mayor, Mr Louis Edwards, in the town of Long Beach and critically wounded the Mayor’s bodyguard. James Walsh. Dooley was standing in front of Mr Edwards’s home in the morning when the Mayor and his bodyguard emerged. "Hello Al!” said the Mayor, and Dooley. without speaking, drew a revolver, and fired once, felling Mr Edwards, then pumped two bullets into Mr Edwards’s body. Walsh attempted to draw his gun, but two more bullets felled him. Dooley then walked calmly to the station house and surrendered. Mr Edwards died in hospital and physicians are giving blood transfusions to Walsh. A crowd gathered at the station house, threatening violence against Dooley.
