PRODUCTION OF PLANES IN U.S.A. ADDITIONAL FACTORIES PROPOSED. REPLY TO GERMAN EFFORT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright NEW YORK. November 14. The Washington correspondent of the “New York Times” says the United States Government may pay a premium on aeroplane motors and possibly planes also in order to finance the construction of additional factories. This step is contemplated partly because of reports of a German production of 2500 planes monthly, far outstripping the training of pilots. The production of aircraft in the United States is reported to be 1700 a month and the motor production is 40 per cent behind the plane output. The French are financing at least two additional American motor factories, which are expected to increase the production sharply. Mr Roosevelt has forwarded to the Appropriations Committee of the House of Representatives a request for 271,000,000 dollars to finance expansion of the army, the navy, the marine corps, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in connection with the national emergency proclamation of September 8.
