BOROUGH AFFAIRS
MARTINBOROUGH COUNCIL + MONTHLY MEETING LAST NIGHT. GRANT TO BATHS FUND. (“Times-Age" Special.) The monthly meeting of the Martinborough Borough Council held last evening was presided over by the Mayor (Mr C. W. Skill). Others present were: Councillors M. N. Hardie (treasurer), M. Mulvaney, G. P. Cotter, P. R. Plummer, W. H. Corfield, W. F. Gundrie, C. R. Holmes. Leave of absence was granted to Councillors T. A. Hamilton and D. J. Green. A letter was received from the Featherston County Council asking for names of councillors for the Emergency Committee. It was decided that all I councillors be included. The Trentham Military Camp authorities wrote asking if band instruments would be available for use in the camp. It was decided to reply that the instruments were in use. An oiler to procure a vibrator for cement work in the construction of the I swimming baths was received from Francis Holmes Ltd. An invitation to the opening of the Anglican Boys’ Home in Masterton and I the one in the Hutt on November 27 was received. • Councillor Corfield was appointed representative to a meeting of the Zone Committee for patriotic funds to be held in Greytown. A satisfactory report on the health of the borough was received. The Works Committee reported that a test bore was being made for water cn the baths site. After a discussion it was decided tc leave the painting of the library for la-1 ter consideration. A grant of £l5O was made to the | funds for the Centennial Public Swim-1 ming Baths. ;
