WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT KOPUARANGA. ENJOYABLE SOCIAL AFTERNOON. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute was held in the hall on Thursday. Mrs E. J. Wright presided over a good attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames A. B. Cottle and R. Moon. The report of the previous meeting was read and confirmed. The institute book, "Tales of Pioneer Women” is now on sale and can be obtained by applying to the secretary. The president welcomed visitors from Mauriceville, and the meeting then took the form of a social afternoon. Two amusing competitions were won by Miss M. Larsen and Mrs Freeman. A recitation by Mrs R. Miller was greatly enjoyed. A special feature of the afternoon was a display of handwork done by the members. A well stocked produce and Christmas gift stall was patronised by everyone, and proved most successful. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses. Mrs Freeman. Mauriceville Women’s Institute, congratulated the Kopuaranga members on their splendid display of work. The results of the monthly competitions, which were kindly judged by the visitors, were as follows: — Powder puff case: Mrs Jarrett. 1: Miss M. Wright. 2; Mrs Reside. 3. Best bloom: Miss D. Kenny and Miss M. Wright (equal), 1; Mrs E. C. Cottle. 3; Mrs Kenny, 4. Sweets: Mrs W. J. Cottle. 1; Miss M. Wright, 2: Mrs Wright, 3. Arrowroot sponge: Miss D. Kenny, 1; Miss L. Fenemor, 2; Miss IVI. Wright, 3. “ j Mrs Wright's special prize for the best rag mat: Mrs Kenny. 1; Mrs Wright, 2; Mrs Jarrett. 3.
