WEDDING
THURSTON—PALMER. A pretty wedding was celebrated on Saturday afternoon at St. Patrick's Church. Masterton, the contracting parties being Margaret Alice, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. H. Palmer. Solway, Masterton, and James Fisher, only son of Mr and Mrs D. F. Thurston. Masterton. The Rev. Father Devalin officiated, assisted by the Rev. Father Moore. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a gown of white stiffened cobweb lace over satin, cut on Victorian lines forming a- small scalloped train at the back and a Pe-ter-Pan collar with a row of tiny buttons from neck to the waistline. The beautiful tulle veil, which was lent by a friend of the bride, was caught in place with a coronet of orange blossom. The bride carried a sheaf of white roses and lily of the valley. The bride was attended by her two sisters. Misses Joan and Isobel Palmer, who were dressed alike in frocks of orchid pink organdie over taffeta, cut on lines similar to that of the bride's gown, with deep rucked hem and waist-lines, and tiny bows of cyclamen velvet from the neck to the waist. On their heads they wore tulle caught in place with two cyclamen orchids, and carried bouquets of sweet peas and roses. Little Jennifer Hart, niece of the bridegroom, was the flower girl and was dressed similarly to the bridesmaids and wore a halo of little pink and cyclamen flowers in her hair and carried a basket of sweet peas. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr T. Bourke, of Lower Hutt, and Mr T. Palmer, brother of the bride, acted as groomsman. The bridegroom's gifts to the bridesmaids and flower girl wore gold bracelets. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the Prince of Wales Hotel, being received by the bride’s mother, who wore a navy blue ensemble with accessories to match and carried a posy of red carnations and roses. Mrs Palmer was assisted by Mrs Thurston, who wore a blue wool georgette ensemble and navy blue hat trimmed with navy blue velvet ribbon and gold pins, .and carried a posy of carnations and sweet peas. The church had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. Later Mr and Mrs J. F. Thurston left by car for the south, the bride travelling in a mermaid blue model frock with navy blue accessories, and carried a fur cape, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr and Mrs J. F. Thurston's future home will be in Hawera.
