FEATHERSTON

ST. JOHN’S CHURCH ORGAN DEDICATED. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the morning service in St John’s Church yesterday, the new electric organ was dedicated by the Rev W. F. Stent. The services at St John's Church on Sunday were very well attended. The preacher for the special Day of Giving service in the morning was the Rev W. F. Stent, of Carterton. This service was. followed by a fellowship luncheon in the Parish Hall. In the evening there was a full attendance of ex-service men. The preacher was the Rev J. F. Holland. It was recently arranged by the local branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association that a church parade be held annually al various churches. ’ ■ I TENNIS CLUB | SEASON OPENED. On Saturday there was a large attendance at the local tennis courts when the Mayoress (Miss Card) formally declared the season open. The courts and surrounding green were in perfect condition and some inter- I esting games were played. The winners were Mrs Baker and Mr McNamara, with Miss M. Bloxam and Mr A. Ford runners up. PIRATE CRICKET CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Pirate Cricket Club was well attended. Mr J. W. Holland being in the chair. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr J. B. Davis; president, Mr J. W. Holland (re-elected): vice-presidents, Messrs C. W. Ritchie M. B. Tait. J. W. McKain, C. H. Ed-| wards, J. B. Burt, and S. S. Hayes;; club captain, Mr W. S. Lynskey; field captain. Mr D. Howells: vice-captain. Mi - J. Loader: secretary and treasurer. Mr F. J. Staples; delegates to the Combined Sports Bodies, Messrs Staples and Lynskey; committee. Messrs Staples .H. Edwards. H. Hague. D. Howells, J. Loader. The subscription was fixed at 5s for) adults and 2s for schoolboys. It was decided to hold the first practise on Tuesday. Two delegates from Featherston Cricket Club were present and matters concerning both clubs were discussed. Armistice Day.
