CROQUET CLUB OFFICIAL OPENING OF SEASON. (“Times-Age” Special.) The members of the' Greytown Ladies' Croquet Club officially opened the season on Saturday. Mrs Vile wished old and new players a happy season and then played the first ball. Honorary members joined in the competitions. The winners were: Angles. Mrs E. Maddison; golf. Mrs A. Haigh; French. Mrs R. Anker; backwards and forwards. Mi’s S. Stevens. MOTOR CYCLE ACCIDENT YOUNG MAN BADLY INJURED. A young man, Mr Nelson Victor Herrick, was riding a motor cycle to Martinborough and when about a mile past the Morison’s Bush School he failed to negotiate the corner and the cycle went ovei- the bank. He had a leg broken. Dr Oakey attended the I patient who was removed to the hospital in the ambulance. TENNIS METHODIST CLUB. The official opening of the season in connection with the Methodist Tennis Club took place on Saturday afternoon. Visitors from the Carterton Methodist Club and Greytown Civil Service Club took part in the opening games. Personal Items. Miss G. Alexander, who has been the guest of Mrs G. S. Maloney, has returned to her home at Christchurch. Mrs W. H. Day is on a visit to Te Kuiti. Mrs C. S. Garrity, of Humphrey I Street, had the misfortune to fall and ! break her leg on Sunday morning. Dr Oakey attended the patient and later she was removed to the Greytown Hospital. Welcome Rain. After heavy westerly winds on Saturday afternoon rain commenced to fall in the evening and continued during Sunday. The rain was welcomed by the farmers and orchardists.
