MARTINBOROUGH
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Martinborough Women's Institute was held yesterday afternoon when there was a good attendance of members. Mrs Lamb presiding. The feature of the meeting was a grandmothers' afternoon and a roll call to which every grandmother who was present responded, stating where she was born. A prize was given foi' the grandmother who had the most grandchildren and Mrs Yanks and Mrs A. D. McLeod tied. There was also another prize for the one who had resided longest in the district, Mrs* A. D. McLeod being the winner. Interesting extracts were read from the Women’s Institute Pioneer Tales which told of the pioneering days of the women of New Zealand. A very creditable display of work done by grandmothers was shown. 'ltems were given by Mrs R. Burch (song). Mrs Sadd (recitation) and Margaret McCardle tap dance. A pleasant gathering was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
