TYNESIDE GOLF CLUB
SUCCESSFUL CLOSING DAY. TROPHY WINNERS FOR SEASON. (“Times-Age” Special.) An unofficial Town v. Country match arranged for the closing day of the Tyneside Golf Club was played under ideal golfing conditions. A very even contest ended in a win by a slight margin for the Country. Some very good scores were recorded during the day, the club’s course record being lowered to 67 by Mr O. R. Williams, and the trophies for the day being won by Mr Blake among the men with a net 55 and Miss Bartholomew with a net 29 for 9 holes. The course unfortunately was rather congested owing to a crowd of about 150 all wishing to play at once but most seemed greatly to enjoy the outing. Following afternoon tea the presentation of trophies was made by the club's president, Mr lan Macßae, who, during the course of his remarks thanked the visitors for their attendance and congratulated the winners of trophies. The following is a list of trophy winners: —Men’s senior championship, Mr O. R. Williams; runner-up, Mr J. Armstrong. Men’s junior championship, Mr D. E. Williams; runner-up, Mr lan Macßae. Ladies’ championship, Miss R. Burrows; runner-up, Mrs O. L. Sykes. Cooper Cup (net aggregate), Mr A. Juno; Macßae Rosebowl (net aggregate for ladies), Miss Patsy Ross; Captain’s trophy, Mr J. Ross; Secretary’s trophy, Miss R. Burrows; Men's eclectic, Mr lan Talbot; Ladies’ eclectic, Mrs W. Bannister; Mrs Bayliss’s trophy (net aggregate), Mrs O. L. Sykes; Mr W. Bannister’s trophy, Mr J. Ross; Miss Bartholomew’s trophies, Mr Wilf. Bannister and Miss Patsy Ross.
Other trophies were won by the following:—Mr A. Juno (2), Mrs J. Armstrong, Mr O. Williams. Mr A. Burrows, Mr W. Bannister, Mrs O. L. Sykes (2), Miss Bartholomew and Miss Ross.
