TRAMPING CLUB

MONTHLY GATHERING HELD LAST NIGHT. ADDRESS ON NATIVE BIRDS. There was a large attendance of members of the Wairarapa Tramping Club at the monthly club night, held last evening in the rooms of Messrs Dunderdale and Gray. Several apologies for unavoidable absence were received. The speaker for the evening was Mr R. H. D. Stidolph. who delivered an extremely interesting address on native birds, which he illustrated with lantern slides. Mr Stidolph, who. incidentally, was an early member of the Wairarapa Tramping Club, was followed with close interest when he described the plumage and habits of the various birds. Trampers have every opportunity for studying birdlife, and at the conclusion of his address Mr Stidolph answered questions from members relating to different birds they have noticed when in the bush. During supper, members of the club had an opportunity of viewing the many photographs taken during the club’s Labour Day weekend trip to Castlepoint. There were some particularly fine photographs on display. They will, no doubt, serve as an efficient reminder of one of the most enjoyable club trips yet held.

The meeting closed with a hearty vole of thanks to Mr Stidolph for the talk, which was greatly appreciated.
