MASTERTON WEST SCHOOL
COMMITTEE MEETING. DEMOLITION OF BUILDING. Mr F. Shearer (chairman) presided over the monthly meeting of the Masterton West School committee. Also present were Messrs Tooby, Rodgers, J. P. Farrell (headmaster) and the secretary, Mr W. A. Clarke. The headmaster’s report stated that the roll number was 352, the attendance being adversely affected by a mild epidemic of colds. As the average roll for the grading period was 354, the school would retain its present grade until next September. Messrs Stubbs, Johnson and McClure, primary school inspectors, visited the school on September 26 and September 27. Nurse Tamplen, of the Health Department, Wellington, examined the pupils during the month.
Advice was received from the secretary of the Wellington Education Board that the tender of Messrs Clarke and Geange, Masterton, for the demolition of the West School building, had been accepted, and that the work would be commenced shortly. Accounts for £3l 12s lOd were passed. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair.
