GIRL GUIDES SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Girl Guide committee over which'Miss A Anderson presided, was a most success* ful gathering. Mrs D. H. 8. Riddiford, Division Commissioner, was among those pre--sent. Miss Anderson welcomed the Division Commission. In reading the annual report she traced the history of the Girl Guide movement in Eketahuna to its present stage. The flag, presented later in the afternoon, was donated by Mr and Mrs Christie, the pole being made and given by Mr H. Baillie. Mention was made to the courtesy of Mr O. Walton in allowing the free use of his office for the committee meetings. Appreciation 'was shown of the work of Mrs Riddiford for the advancement of the Girl Guide movement in Eketahuna. She had been very helpful with advice for both committee and Guiders, besides twice travelling from Featherston to attend meetings. As Miss Anderson wished to relinquish the position of president, Mrs Fraser was duly elected. Other officers elected were:—Vice-presidents, Miss A. Anderson, Mrs M. Herbert, Mrs A. S. Carter and Mrs Albrechtsen; commit-, tee, Mesdames Gray,' Ives, Christie, Olsen, Gallagher, Walton, Waterreus, R. Cooper, Miss U. McAnulty; secretary, Miss C. M. Wilson. Mrs Riddiford addressing the meeting, explained the value of having a local Girl Guide Association, members of which could give much assistance in equipping the girls for camping, one of the main aims of Guide training. Guiding has been called a game, but it is a game with a purpose. It is a development of mind and character, a training of duty to God and the King. Guide training is capable of development in any direction, especially nowadays towards ambulance work, nursing, cooking and pioneering. Mrs Riddiford welcomed Miss Herrick, who had just arrived from Hastings, and who gave a very comprehensive address on the organisation and administration of the Guiding Movement. Later the Girl Guides assembled, while their captain. Miss M. Finnie, received the flag from Miss Herrick. A number of enrolments were made, two of the leaders and several of the guides. The flag-bearers then carried off their colours, while the Guides prepared for a balloon game which provided good exercise and amusement. The Guiders are as follow: —Miss M. Finnie, captain; Miss J. Wilson, lieutenant; Miss K. Herbert, Brown Owl; Miss H. Fraser, Tawny Owl. It was announced that Mrs Riddiford would visit Eketahuna again shortly to enrol more of the Guides. She will then be accompanied by the District Commissioner from Masterton. EKETAHUNA STOCK SALE SATISFACTORY PRICES FOR BULLS.
