TENNIS CLUB SEASON OFFICIALLY OPENED. (“Times-Age” Special.) / The official opening of the Tennis Club’s season took place over the weekend, there being a good attendance. A fine day prevailed, making conditions for play ideal. The competitions were very keenly contested, and enjoyed by all. The following were the prize winners of the competitions which were conducted in two divisions: —First Division, Miss E. Wilkin and Mr C. Neilson; second division. Miss I. McArley and Mr H.' Milner. The ground and court are in excellent condition for the coming season. This work has been carried out by an excellent working bee. A dance will be held on Thursday next, October 26, at the local hall. A good orchestra has been engaged, and dancing patrons are assured of a thoroughly enjoyable evening. FOREST DOWNS CLUB TROPHIES WINNERS. The Forest Downs Golf Club held its annual closing day at the weekend. A mixed foursome over nine holes was played, and resulted in a win for Miss James and Mr F. Tildesley, with an excellent gross of 37. Following the competition, afternoon tea was served, and the prizes won during the year were presented by the president, Miss Heckler. Mr and Mrs Adamson, /of Hawera, a brother of Mrs McArley, is a visitor to the district. Misses Pat Childs (Palmerston North), and Audrey Childs (Wellington) have been visiting their mother, Mrs C. Childs (Mauriceville). Mrs Tweedie (Palmerston North) daughter of Mr and Mrs O. H. Nikolaison, is visiting Mauriceville. Mr Olaf Nikolaison (Napier) son of Mr and Mrs Nikolaison, Mr and Mrs Tonge (Wellington) and Miss Olive Scott (Napier) are guests of Mr and Mrs Nikolaison.
