CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
MEETING OF DIRECTORS. GRANT TO COLLEGE PIPE BAND. A meeting of the directors of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society was held last night at which it was decided that members joining the forces should be made honorary members until their return —that is their membership is to be kept alive without payment of subscription. Arrangements were made to hold the annual sports meeting at the Park Oval on New Year’s Day, to be followed by a Scotch concert in the Opera House in the evening. A vote of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Mr D. A. Pickering, members standing in silence as a mark of respect to his memory. Mr R. McKenzie (president) spoke eulogistically of the work carried out in the interests of the Society by the late Mr Pickering. It was decided to make a grant of £5 to the Wairarapa College Pipe Band Fund. Members referred to the good work which the College Band was carrying out, and wished it every success.
