GREYTOWN
STATE HOUSES WORK NEARLY COMPLETED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The seven single-unit houses and the one double-unit house at the south end of Greytown are nearly completed. The shortage of some essential finishing fittings has caused certain delay, otherwise the contractors would have been able to hand over the buildings by the end of the present month. BOWLING CLUB OPENING OF SEASON ON SATURDAY. The official opening of the Greytown Bowling Club season is to take place on Saturday. COMING OF AGE PARTY. MISS VERNA BOUZAID. The Crown Theatre was the scene of an enjoyable party on Monday evening when Mr and Mrs M. Bouzaid entertained a large number of friends in 'honour of the coming-of-age of their daughter, Verna. Friends and relations were present from all parts of the Wairarapa, Dannevirke, Wellington, and Eketahuna. Mr J. Bouzaid, of Masterton, acted as M.C. and Mr Te Tau’s orchestra supplied the music for the dancing. Mrs Stephenson, of Lower Hutt, played extras. The toast of the evening was proposed by Messrs J. F. Thompson and H. G. Carter. Mr M. Bouzaid replied on behalf of his daughter and presented her with the ceremonial key. Mr J. C. Feast proposed the toast of Mr and Mrs Bouzaid. Misses Betty and Joan Feast sang two duets and Mr W. Brown and Miss Joan Bouzaid gave an exhibition of tap dancing. Miss Bouzaid received many beautiful presents. The guest of the evening was charmingly dressed in white chiffon over satin with white fur coat. When Mrs M. Bouzaid received the guests, she was wearing a frock of black and lemon sheer georgette. DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL HOLIDAY ON THURSDAY. The Grey town District High School will be closed on Thursday for the Carterton Show. The shops will close at 11 a.m.
