MASTERTON RETAILERS

ANNUAL MEETING HELD LAST NIGHT.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING HOURS.

The annual meeting of the Masterton Retailers’ Association was held last night, Mr H. P. Hugo presiding over a good attendance of members. A request was received from the Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society asking retailers to observe People’s Day at the Carterton Show on Thursday next as a public holiday. It was decided to request Masterton retailers to close at noon. Shopping hours to be observed in Masterton for the Christmas and New Year holidays were fixed as follow: — Monday, December 18 to Thursday, December 21, usual hours. Friday, December 22, close at 10 o’clock. Saturday, December 23, close at noon. The same hours are to be observed over the New Year, except that on Friday, December 29, the usual 9 o'clock closing will apply. Mention was made of the valuable assistance received from the Manawatu and Wairarapa Employers’ Association. a special vote of thanks being passed to Mr J. Ellis, of Palmerston North.

The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted:—President. Mr H. P. Hugo (re-elected); committee, Messrs F.' J. Adcock, H. L. Esau. J. V. Gordon, J. Ninnes, R. Page, F. E. Wells, J. Whiteman; auditor, Mr F. E. Wells (re-elected).
