MILK FOR CHILDREN
SUPPLIES FOR Vi/AIRARAPA SCHOOLS.
CONTRACT LET TO DANNEVIRKE FIRM.
After considerable difficulty, as for a long time suppliers have declined .to contract at the Government's stipulated price, schools in the Wairarapa will at last have the benefit of the free milk scheme. A Dannevirke firm, Messrs Boniface and Glyde, are the suppliers, and already supply an area from Pahiatua to Otane, and the new area, in which deliveries will start before the end of this month, extends from Eketahuna to Featherston. About 4000 additional children will be served under the extended scheme, which will include Masterton and other Wairarapa towns. At one time, owing to lack of suitable milk supplies, free ice cream was advocated in Masterton.
