STAFF FAREWELL

GATHERING AT "TIMES-AGE.” Members of the “Wairarapa TimesAge” staff assembled this morning to farewell Mr S. 1. Baird, of the reporting staff, who is going into camp next week at Weraroa to take up a course of training for the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Mr D. M. Graham, general manager, said that during the period Mr Baird had been a member of the staff he had earned the esteem and respect of all his fellow workers, who joined in wishing him God speed and a safe return. On behalf of the staff MrGraham presented Mr Baird with a gift as a token of the best wishes of all and on behalf of the firm he handed him a cheque in appreciation of his services. Mr E. J. Brown, business manager, and Mr W. A. Michael, editor, endorsed Mr Graham’s remarks. In acknowledging the presentations, Mr Baird said he had enjoyed his association with the “Times-Age” and was sorry he was leaving.
