WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT RONGOKOKAKO. The monthy meeting of the Rongokokako Women’s Institute was held recently, Mrs Sigvertsen presiding over a large attendance of members ■ and visitors. The Ode to Friendship was sung and the prayer for peace read. Donations were received for the annual appeal of Christmas gifts for the Leper Station at Makogai. Mrs L. Sigvertsen and Miss E. Sigvertsen were appointed delegates to attend the Bush District Federation Council meeting. An enjoyable play was given by I Eketahuna visitors. An interesting demonstration was given by Miss T. Isakson, Kaiparoro, on chenille work, this being watched with keen interest by all present. Competitions resuted as follow:—Sultana cake. Mrs Winter 1, Mrs W. O’Neil 2, Miss E. Sigvertsen 3. Best jar of spring bulbs. Mrs Oliver 1. Mrs B. Mcrriss 2, Mrs J. P. Sigvertsen 3. Best bloom, Mrs S. Smith (auricula) 1. Mrs L. Sigvertsen and Mrs B. Morriss (tulip and Iceland poppy) 2, Mrs G. Farrow (tulip) 3. A skill test was won by Mrs J. Payne. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Miss Isakson for kindly judging the competitions and to the Eketahuna visitors for the play. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Baucke and Goggin (assisted by others).
