CELERY AND RADISH

SATISFACTORY SKIN LOTIONS. Celery can be pressed into beauty's service, and the following lotion is excellent as either a powder base or a protection from wind and sun. Half a stick of celery should be covered with cold water and then placed over a low gas and allowed to simmer for one hour. If the water boils away, more should be added. At the expiration of the hour, strain, allow to cool, and then add a tablespoonful of either almond or olive oil and 15 drops of benzoin. Keep well corked and shake the bottle before using. Dab lightly on the skin, allow to dry, and then apply make-up. And here is a celery face-pack which is excellent for clearing up bad skins. Procure a large stick of celery, wash it well, remove the green leaves, and then run it through the mincer. Have a piece of fine muslin beneath the open end of the mincer so that both -the minced celery and the juice are caught. Fold the muslin over, and then lay it over the face. Allow to remain on for fifteen minutes, then remove, and allow the juice to dry on the skin. A chapped skin will often respond to a radish treatment. Scrape a radish veyy finely, then allow it to soak in hot milk for two hours. Rub this into the skin and allow it to dry, then wash well in soft water.
