NINETY-NINE TOMORROW
MR M. GRONKOWSKI OF MASTERTON. ENJOYS GOOD HEALTH. Tomorrow Mr Michael Gronkowski, of Railway Road, Masterton, will celebrate his 99th birthday. Mr Gronkowski and his family arrived in New Zealand 59 years ago and immediately settled in the Wairarapa, taking up their residence at Carterton. There were seven children and Mr Gronkowski continued to live at Carterton until his wife died 14 years ago. He then came to reside with his daughter (Mrs Price) in Railway Road, Masterton. Mr Gronkowski still, enjoys good health. His eyesight, however, is not as good as it was. Interviewed this morning by a “Times-Age” reporter, Mr Gronkowski stated that he had never been in a hospital in his life and only on one occasion had he been very ill. Before coming to New Zealand he had fought in three wars. Besides his own family, Mr Gronkowski has seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
