VANDALS ACTIVE
MASTERTON STREET TREES DAMAGED. CANADIAN MAPLES RING-BARKED Vandals have been active again in Masterion and several street trees have suffered. The Masterton Beautifying Society regards this matter very seriously and steps are .being taken to put a stop to it. Two Canadian maples in First Street have been ring-barked and one of the trees is dead in consequence. In South Road a plane tree has been badly maimed by being cut back to the trunk while in Albert Street a number of Mountain ashs have been knocked about, probably by children. In the latter case, the society appeals for the co-operation of parents so that more control is exercised over the children. The damage has been brought to notice during the course of pruning operations.
