MINIATURE RIFLES CHAMPIONSHIP CONTESTS. ("Times-Age” Special.) The final shoots for the championship of the Greytown Miniature Rifle Club resulted in the A grade championship going to R. Golf Competition. The winner of the stableford playen on Saturday was E. Williams (36).' The phenominal growth of grass has made it necessary to close the Greytown links. Next Saturday the driving, putting, and approaching competitions will be held. The danger of driving off the tee before those in front are clear was emphasised on the Greytown links on Sunday afternoon, 1 when Mrs T. R. Ingley was hit on the head by a golf ball. Mrs Ingley was- unconscious for some minutes and was conveyed to the golf house by car. Day of Prayer. There was a large attendance at all the churches in Greytown on Sunday in connection with the day of prayer. Centennial Celebrations. The arrangment for the Centennial celebrations in Greytown are to be discussed at the meeting which will be held in the Town Hall this evening. Personal Items. Mr Roy Richards, son of Mr and Mrs E. Richards. McMaster Street, Greytown, will leave on Tuesday with the Masterton troops for Trentham. Mr A. Grigg, for many years on the Grey town Post Office- staff, is among the Wellington military quota which is to go into camp. Fire Brigade and the War. During the Great War 1914-1918 a number of the members of the Fire Brigade served in the Army. Already several of the present members have offered their services and it may be necessary to call on the retired members again to take up duty.
