GOLF COMPETITIONS
STABLEFORD RESULT.
(“Times-Age” Special.)
The Stableford competition held on Saturday afternoon, resulted as follows:—J. McCallum, 25-10-35; W. Rowles, 31-2-33; J. Davies, 20-13-33; H. Lovegrove, 19-14-33. Mr A. T. Carlyon, who will leave for Trentham on Tuesday, was presented with a cup, donated by Mr T. G. Hardie, for the medal competition. The official closing for the season will take place next Saturday, when the trophies won during the season will be presented. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY SPECIAL PRIZES DONATED. At a meeting of the Horticultural Society held in the Parish Hall there were present:—Mr A. C. Pearce (in the chair), Mesdames Ritchie, McKenzie, Tutbury, Hayes, Hunter, J. B. Davis, Harkness, A. Clark, C. Carter, Wakely, Rea, Misses Wilkinson, Tutbury, Viles, Card (2). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Lawson, Carylon, G. Yule, Bloxam, H. Clark. Lowell, Misses Eva Card and McTaggart, Messrs G. Yule, Hayes and H. Rea.
s Miss Card welcomed MrA.C. Pearce as chairman.
A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Miss Miles for the donation of a cup for the cottage garden section at the show to be held on Thursday, November 16.
Special prizes have been donated for the following:—Best article made by boy, first prize 7s 6d; second prize. 2s 6d, donated by Mrs Shepherd; a special prize of 5s for a decorated bowl of flowers for Jocal primary school children donated by Mr C. H. Rea. Prizes in boys’ class by Mrs Lawson; prize by Mrs C. J. Carlyon. for decorated table, bowl only for Featherston exhibitors. Prize of 10s 6d by Mr Pearce, points prize in the school girls cooking section and 10s 6d "to go with the junior cup for the decorated table; and a cup donated by Mr T. Hardie for the aggregate points in the pansy section.
