LORRY AND CAR COLLIDE TWO WOMEN KILLED. WELL KNOWN ATHLETES. (By Telegrapn—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. October 1. A New Zealand champion woman athlete and her twin sister were fatally injured, and two companions suffered injuries as a result of a collision between a cream lorry and a small car at Mount Wellington. The victims were: — Killed: Miss Doreen Lumley, aged 18, daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Lumley, Grey Lynn. Miss Bernice Lumley, twin sister of Doreen. Miss Bernice Lumley, who was also a well-known athlete, died later in the hospital as the result of her injuries. Miss Doreen Lumley died shortly after her admission to the hospital. Injured: Albert Francis Stanley, accountant, aged 19, Epsom, injury to right leg; condition not serious. Peter Sharp, motor engineering apprentice, aged 19; Green Lane; discharged from hospital after treatment for minor injuries. The victims of the accident were the occupants of a small car driven by Mr Sharp. STRUCK BY MOTOR CAR MAN DIES FROM INJURIES. WANGANUI, October 1.
