BUILDING PERMITS
MASTERTON FIGURES. The Masterton Borough Council issued 5 permits (1 new dwelling) for an estimated value of £1650 last month, compared with 7 permits (1 new dwelling) for £2803 for September, 1938. Comparative figures for the 9 months (January-September), 1939, and 1938 respectively are: 1939, 61 permits (11 new dwellings) for £23,352; 1938, 75 permits (13 new dwellings) for £35,192. The difference is chiefly accounted for by the new Knox Church building being shown in the 1938 figures. The Masterton County Council issued 3 permits of an estimated value of £542.
