DAV OF PRAYER
SERVICE IN MASTERTON PARK TOMORROW. PARADE OF TERRITORIALS AN OTHER UNITS. The special service of intercessiiq to be held on the Masterton Park Ohl tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock hll be attended by units of the Territoial Forces in Masterton, members of «. Wairarapa Returned Soldiers’ AssocuJ tion and K Squadron of the Legion ot Frontiersmen. The Masterton Municipal Band will also be in attendance. The address will be given by the Rt Rev F. A. Bennett, Bishop of Aotearoa. In response to an invitation from Archbishop Averill, Sunday will be observed in Anglican churches throughout the Dominion as a day of national prayer. The Archbishop has invited the heads and leaders of all other churches to do likewise, and it is probable that the suggestion will be generally adopted. The New Zealand observance is in conformity with an announcement by the Archbishop of Canterbury on September 15, that with the approval of the King, and by order of the Privy Council, October 1 had been appointed a day of national prayer. The order- applied only to the Church of England as by law established, but the Archbishop expressed the hope that other Christian communions throughout the Empire would join in.
