FORCED DOWN

AUSTRALIAN AIR LINER.

ON SYDNEY-BRISBANE ROUTE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.55 a.m.) ' SYDNEY, This Day. A Douglas air liner, which was forced down by bad weather yesterday while on its way to Brisbane, was carrying eight passengers and a crew of three. The machine came down into a shallow swamp adjoining Cook’s River. Had it landed on the river experts think it would have turned over and that all its occupants possibly would have been trapped and drowned. On the other hand the shallow water had a cushioning effect sufficient to retard forward movement when the plane landed.
