. QUEEN CARNIVAL EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) A euchre party and dance in aid of the Martinorough Carnival Queen, Miss Kitty Smith, was held in Kahutara Hall on Tuesday night, when an enjoyable time was spent. The card tournament winners were as follow: — Ladies:—Mrs Whitehead 1, Miss Fenwick 2; Men: Mr A. Feast 1, Mr Cassidy 2. Music for the dancing was supplied by Te Tau’s orchestra and extras were played by Miss K. Smith. Mr S. Davidson acted as M.C. BOY SCOUTS PARTY CARD WINNERS. There was a fair attendance at the final euchre tournament held in aid of the Boy Scouth in the Odd Fellows Hall on Tuesday night. The winners were—Ladies, Mrs Charles 1, Mrs Hoskings 2. Men, Mr Crawford 1, Mr A. Ashworth 2. Aggregate: ladies, Mrs Simmonds 1, Mrs Saunders 2. Men, Mr Rae 1, Mr W. Worsley 2. GOLF CLUB TOURNEY FINAL ARRANGEMENTS. A committee meeting, of the club was held on Tuesday evening to finalise the arrangements for the annual tournament, which will be held at the Gum Grove links on Labour Day weekend, October 21, 22 and 23.
It was also decided that the official closing day take place on October 7, but that the links be kept open until the Labour Day weekend. The Stableford bogey competition held by the ladies yesterday afternoon resulted as follows: —Miss M. Ruane, 36 points, 1; Mrs L. Benton, 35 points, 2; Mrs H. Lovegrove, 32 points 3. Mrs Carlyon won the Junior Ladies’ Championship from Mrs McCarty, 2 up.
