Barely eighteen months ago, the site of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition was a waste of sand dunes dotted with lupins, and in one corner was a rubbish tip. Today the Exhibition buildings, massive and colourful and set among ordered gardens and wide sweeping paths, make a complete transformation of the original scene. The work is going on apace, and , increasing to an active crescendo as opening day approaches. At present there are more than 800 men and women working within the Exhibition grounds. Their tasks vary from the surfacing of the roadways to designing and drawing and general executive work.
