OBITUARY
MRS E. E. CLAPP. The death occurred recently at her residence, Waterloo Road, Johnsonville, of Mrs Edith Emily Clapp, at the age of 66 years. The late Mrs Clapp was the eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Henry Payne, Homebush, Masterton. She was born in Brighton, Sussex, England, coming to New Zealand when about three years of age, with her parents and settled in Masterton. She spent her schooldays in Masterton and was taught by the late Mr W. T. Grundy. Until her marriage she was engaged in dressmaking in Masterton. She then left for Australia for a few years and returned to Masterton with her husband and family. Mrs Clapp is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs H. Prattley (Johnsonville), and two sons, Messrs Walter (Auckland) and Leslie Clapp (Frankton). There are six grandchildren. Mrs J. Cole (Homebusli) is a sister and Messrs Charles and James Payne (Masterton) are brothers.
The late Mrs Clapp was interred in the Masterton Cemetery.
