PERSONAL ITEMS (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs Cowan and Miss Piripi, who were visiting Feilding, have returned home. Mr Clayton, who was relieving at the local post office, has left for, Wellington. Mrs W. Hume, who has been on a short visit to relatives, has returned to Wellington. Mr and Mrs Swainson, Lake Ferry, were recent visitors to Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs Gordon Patrick, Lower Hutt, were visitors here for the weekend. Mr and Mrs Young and Mr and Mrs Ireland, Wellington, were guests at the Lake Ferry at the weekend. Mrs Taurau, who has been in the Wellington Hospital undergoing treatment, has returned home. The Lambing Season. Docking operations are in full swing in this district. Percentages are in most cases, equal to those of last year. Whitebait Plentiful. Whitebait arc being netted at the Lake Ferry in fairly large quantities. Flounders are very scarce. • Enlisted for Service. It is reported that several young men in this district have enlisted for service with the forces. An Unusual Happening. An unusual happening occurred at the Matawhero estate of Mr Drummond McMaster recently when an ewe gave birth to four lambs. They were all well matured lambs. Two of them are being mothered by other ewes. Trees Damaged by Hail. A heavy fall of hail was experienced here recently and did considerable damage to flowering trees. Sharp frosts were also experienced. Conference Cancelled.
The parish conference of tho Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which was to have been held at Kohunui next month has been cancelled.
